C कई भाषाओं की जननी है: Linux और Windows जैसे operating systems और अनगिनत embedded devices इसी में लिखे गए हैं। हर C प्रोग्राम main() function से शुरू होता है। printf() स्क्रीन पर print करता है और उसके लिए #include <stdio.h> चाहिए।

Press Run to see the result here.\n का अर्थ है नई लाइन; इसके बिना अगला printf उसी लाइन पर जारी रहता है। हर statement semicolon पर खत्म होता है, और return 0; system को बताता है कि प्रोग्राम सफलतापूर्वक पूरा हुआ।
